Myla Bocyu Bangngay is a 35-year-old woman from Corner Apayao, Philippines. She is currently in a common-law partnership and is blessed with a 4-year-old daughter, whom she personally cares for. As a mother, she has developed a nurturing attitude and hands-on experience in childcare, managing both her child’s daily needs and household responsibilities. She is the eldest among nine siblings, with three brothers and five sisters. Coming from a large family, she naturally assumed responsibilities at an early age, helping care for her younger siblings. Her father, aged 56, works as a farmer, while her mother, aged 54, serves as a barangay councilor. Her upbringing in a hardworking and community-oriented family has instilled in her strong values of responsibility, patience, and perseverance. Myla completed her secondary education at Corner Central National High School in 2007. She later pursued a degree in Information Technology but was only able to study up to her first year due to financial constraints. Despite this, she remained motivated to work and support her family. She has gained several years of non-domestic work experience, which helped her develop discipline and customer service skills. From 2012 to 2015, she worked as a saleslady, followed by her role as a cashier from 2015 to 2020. She was later promoted to area in charge in a supermarket from March 2021 to August 2021, where she handled staff supervision and daily operations. Most recently, she worked as a sales supervisor from September 2024 to September 2025, further enhancing her leadership and organizational skills. In addition to her retail experience, Myla also has hands-on domestic work experience. PHILIPPINES From 2013 to 2015, she worked for a Filipino family living in a 4-bedroom, 2-storey house with three children aged 9, 4, and a newborn. She served as an all-around housemaid, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the house, doing laundry, ironing clothes, cooking meals, and providing attentive care to the children, including assisting with their daily routines and ensuring their safety. She also worked abroad in Saudi Arabia from September 2023 to January 2024 for an Arab family living in a large 6-bedroom, 3-storey house. The household consisted of a couple and 9-month-old twins, along with another helper assigned to other family members. Myla’s primary responsibility was to care for the twins, focusing on their safety, feeding, bathing, and overall well-being. Her employment was cut short because the family migrated to Canada. This experience strengthened her skills in infant care and her ability to work in a shared household environment. In addition to her professional experience, Myla also has personal experience in elderly caregiving. She personally looked after her grandfather, who was bedridden due to diabetes. She assisted him with his daily needs, including feeding, maintaining hygiene, and ensuring his comfort. This experience helped her develop patience, compassion, and basic skills in caring for elderly individuals with medical conditions. Currently, Myla is staying at home, focusing on raising her daughter while managing household chores and waiting for her application for employment in Singapore to be selected. With her combined experience as a mother, domestic helper, and retail worker, she is well-equipped in handling both childcare and general household duties such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, cooking, marketing, and dishwashing. She is confident in caring for infants and young children, as she also helps look after her nephews and nieces. She is capable of performing childcare tasks such as feeding, bathing, preparing school needs, assisting with homework, playing with children, and sending and fetching them from school.
